The Aaron Rodgers era has finally begun for Packers fans, as last night on the grand stage of Monday Night Football; after four years waiting on the bench Rodgers proved he is the new prodigal son of the cheese heads. Rodgers soaked in his first start and first win against division rival Minnesota 24-19.Rodgers, a general of the offense last night, threw for 178 yards and rushed for 36 yards. Rodgers passed for a touchdown and rushed for one as well.
The man who handled the preseason Favre media scandal with class and patience, a man who understood the weight of judgement and expectations when he was named the first Packer starter not named Brett Favre in 16 seasons. That man commanded a balanced offense last night and did not make a
stupid throw or cause a typical rookie turnover. That man looked eerily similar to Brett Favre in every way, including getting the home win and even possessing the ability to grow incredible facial hair. Rodgers even received a standing ovation when he took the field last night....very Favre-esque. "A little bit different feeling, obviously," Rodgers said of the experience. "Before, when you take the field and you realize the only way you're going to get on the field is if something happens to Brett, which you don't root for, or (we're) way ahead or behind." "So tonight, knowing I was going to get the first snap was pretty special, and running out the tunnel to the electric atmosphere we had, it was a pretty special night."
Aaron Rodgers was even able to Lambeau leap last night into the arms of welcoming and appreciative Packer fans! It wasn't a graceful, nor particularly explosive leap- but he deserved to do it, and it was endearing.
"I was hoping my first leap would be something a little more flashy," Rodgers said. "At that point of the game I just said, 'What the heck, I'm going for it.'"
So I am happy to prophesizie that Aaron Rodgers may be lying in a bed filled with booze and women, as I hope he is this lovely Tuesday Morning- and he is also repeating in his head "Who's your daddy now Packers Fans?"
You. You are my daddy now, Aaron Rodgers.
